Company History

For 73 years Anderson Truck Line, Inc has been transporting new furniture from the manufacturer to the retail store, serving the southeastern and the mid Atlantic states with pride.  Two bothers, A.P. Anderson and Beecher Anderson left farming in 1932 to become truckers.  E. Carl Anderson (A.P.’s son) joined the company after high school and was president of the company from 1961 to 1978.  His son, Carl Anderson, Jr. returned from college and military service in 1964 to work in the company until his retirement in 2000.  He was president from 1978 until 2000.  Dan E. Anderson, the current president and CEO, returned to work with his father and brother Carl, Jr. after graduation in 1974 from the University of Tennessee with a degree in transportation and serving in the United States Air Force as a Vietnam veteran.  Dan, a past Chairman of the North Carolina Trucking Association says “Trucking has been in my family and in my life since I was born.  My philosophy for Anderson Truck Line is to provide the best service possible in new furniture transportation and always put the customer first.  If you don’t someone else will”.

Today Anderson Truck Line operates as a common and contract carrier over irregular routes granted by the Interstate Commerce Commission. The initial authority was granted under “Grandfather Rights” issued by the ICC in May 1935 (MC.45656).

Anderson Truck Line is a member of North Carolina Trucking Association, Georgia Trucking Association, North American Furniture Transportation Group (NAFTG), and American Furniture Manufacturers Association.
